Several high-ranking wrestlers were even infected recently, but it appears that the championship will take place now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mitakeumi<\/strong>&nbsp;has finally become an<em>&nbsp;ozeki,<\/em>&nbsp;just below the supreme rank of<em>&nbsp;yokozuna.<\/em>&nbsp;By winning his third title last January, the Nagano native finally met the minimum requirements for promotion after spending almost two years in the&nbsp;san&#8217;yaku<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-background is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"background-color:#f2efe7\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/zoomjapan.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/banzuke-en.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"595\" height=\"542\" src=\"https:\/\/zoomjapan.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/banzuke-en.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8844\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zoomjapan.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/banzuke-en.jpg 595w, https:\/\/zoomjapan.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/banzuke-en-300x273.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-small-font-size\" style=\"color:#5b4c24\"><strong>Yokozuna<\/strong><br>At the top of the pyramid is the title of <em>yokozuna<\/em> \u2014 once earned, it lasts for life. To achieve this supreme rank you already need to be an <em>ozeki<\/em>, then win two consecutive tournaments. Unlike other titles a yokozuna cannot lose his title even if he is defeated. However, if his defeats continue he will have to resign to preserve his dignity. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-small-font-size\" style=\"color:#5b4c24\"><strong>Ozeki<\/strong><br>The rank of <em>ozeki <\/em>comes just below that of <em>yokozuna<\/em>. Appointed at a full extraordinary meeting, he needs to have accumulated 33 victories during the previous three tournaments to be worthy of the title. If his defeats outnumber his wins he does not lose his rank immediately but becomes kadoban. To earn back his titlethe <em>ozeki <\/em>must score eight wins at the following tournament.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If the ranking sees the arrival of a new&nbsp;ozeki<em>,&nbsp;<\/em>a sword of Damocles will hang over the other two. Whether it\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Takakeisho<\/strong>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<strong>Shodai<\/strong>, both&nbsp;<em>rikishi<\/em>&nbsp;(sumo wrestlers) are in the hot seat following their poor results in January. The former was withdrawn due to a new injury while the latter underperformed. If they don&#8217;t secure the majority of wins, the axe will fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only&nbsp;<em>yokozuna<\/em>&nbsp;in the competition,&nbsp;<strong>Terunofuji<\/strong>, who finished third in January, will want to regain control of the situation and ensure he\u2019s the only master on the board.&nbsp;&nbsp;It was the first time since his promotion six months ago that the&nbsp;<em>yokozuna<\/em>&nbsp;had seen the cup slip from his fingers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Particular attention will also be paid to&nbsp;<strong>Abi<\/strong>&nbsp;who has confirmed he\u2019s in great form since returning to the competition.
