【30th October – 27th November 2021】
2021 has been a remarkable year for Imada. After a year-long wait, the Hollywood film ‘Fast and Furious 9’ premiered in June and her painting was in the key scene of the film. She also created 2 installation works during June and July at the Wave Coventry and Coventry Cathedral. During the summer, she was working on creating a woodblock print inspired by Hokusai’s drawing and its process was recorded to create a short film to run at the exhibition ‘Hokusai: The Great Picture Book of Everything’ which runs from 30 September 2021 to 30 January 2022 at the British Museum.
For this exhibition, she has focused on creating woodblock print works, both small and large scale, and works on paper. The smaller version of installation work she presented at the Wave Coventry in summer also on display. The title of the exhibition, ‘Metamorphoses of Water’, is an allusion to unforeseen changes in circumstances. During the pandemic, we all experienced some kind of loss and Imada together with a composer/flutist Nicholas Sabisky created works dedicated to those who share the feeling of loss to console them and help them to stand strong in the days to come.
