The Consulate General of Japan in collaboration with Japanese Studies at the University of Edinburgh, is proud to welcome you to Japan Children’s Day, a fun filled day of Japanese cultural performances and activities for all the family, in celebration of Japan’s national holiday ‘Children’s Day.’
Japan Children’s Day is a free, non-ticketed event that is open to all.
Japan Children’s Day:
Throughout the day attendees can enjoy a number of free fun cultural activities including:
Making origami koi nobori (carp streamers) and kabuto helmets, the traditional decorations of Children’s Day
Playing with traditional Japanese toys
Trying calligraphy
Experiencing Taiko drumming
Wearing Japanese traditional clothing such as yukata and happi
We will also be displaying an exhibition of the winning paintings from the Consulate’s recent Picture Japan painting competition for primary schools.
